Around sixth and seventh century the city was abandoned and the inhabitants built their new city in the place of ancient Asini. In this new location, on the foot of Akritas cape, Koroni will continue its course from the Middle Ages to the present day.
As in Messini Petalidi bases its economy on agriculture. Oil, raisins, potatoes and early vegetables are grown, while the area is quickly developing in terms of tourism industry with the creation of infrastructure at the beaches of Bouka, Analipsi and Velika.
