Municipality of Trifylia is located in Southwestern Greece and specifically in the Southwest part of Peloponnisos, in the Prefecture of Messinia. It is bordered with the Municipality of Pylos-Nestor to the south, Oichalia and Messinia in the east and municipality of Zacharo to the north. The area of the Municipality is 612 km2 and its permanent population, according to the 2011 inventory, is 27.373 inhabitants.

The seat of the Municipality is the town of Kyparissia, which is 250 kilometers away from Athens, 160 kilometers from Patra and 70 kilometers from Kalamata. The area of ​​the Municipality is characterized by a diversity of landscapes, as the four of the Municipal Units are characterized two as lowlands and two as mountainous. A large area is occupied by the fertile and productive Trifyliakos Kampos, which, combined with the excellent climatic conditions is prevailing in the Municipality and gives the region a significant lead in the primary sector.

In Trifylia Municipality there are the six municipal districts, Aetos with a lowland area of 94 s.km, Avlona with 112 s.km of mountainous land, Gargalianoi with a plain area of 122 s.km, Kyparissia with an area of 101 s.km of plain also, Filiatra with area of 114 s.km and and Tripli with mountainous area of 69 s.km.
